Problématique générale
Paléoherpétologue, mes recherches sont axées sur l’évolution des faunes reptiliennes et leurs environnements dans un cadre temporel étendu.
Ateliers d’étude
La phylogénie des reptiles dont les chéloniens, basée sur l’étude d’assemblages fossiles d’environnements continentaux, et en particulier dulçaquicoles.
L’utilisation de certains proxy environnementaux tels que :
- la microstructure des coquilles d’œufs d’amniotes avec ses implications écologiques et biologiques ;
- les marques de croissance des pièces osseuses d’ectothermes (sclérochronologie) afin d’appréhender les phénomènes de saisonnalité (intégrant un volet expérimental sur l’actuel, collaboration avec Olga Otero).
En parallèle, je mène des projets de recherche sur le patrimoine scientifique au travers des collections de l’Université de Poitiers dont un volet paléontologique régional.
Terrain principal
Mon matériel d’étude est issu de programmes de terrain dans de nombreux pays (Éthiopie, Tchad, Roumanie). Je codirige plusieurs sites de fouilles dans le sud de la France (Velaux-La Bastide Neuve, Vitrolles-la Plaine, Villeveyrac, La Livinière….) et La Nouvelle Aquitaine (Jaunay-Clan, Colombiers) en collaboration avec Xavier Valentin.
