The OGRE Project: Objectives, Collaboration and Recent Advances
By the OGRE Team – Jean-Renaud Boisserie, Tomas Getachew Bedane, Blade Engda Redae, Axelle Gardin, Haregwin Hailu and Margot Louail
The CFEE is pleased to host a seminar by the OGRE team on “The OGRE Project: Objectives, Collaboration and Recent Advances”, on July 6, 2026, at 2:00 pm (UTC+3). The seminar will take place at the French Centre for Ethiopian Studies, Addis Ababa, and will also be accessible online. It is open to all.
The Omo Group Research Expedition investigates the dynamics of human and non-human populations in the lower Omo Valley by studying the adjacent Shungura Formation (approx. 3.75 Ma–1.09 Ma) and Usno Formation (approx. 4.2 Ma–approx. 3.2 Ma). The aim is to describe the evolution of biodiversity, ecology of species and behaviours within a broad range of biotic interactions and in response to environmental changes at local and, possibly, global scales. The OGRE team will illustrate various aspects of this work through a series of short talks.
