Main research question
The objective of my PhD is to better understand, through an integrated study, the establishment of continental wetlands by analysing the diversity of sentinel ectothermic vertebrates and the modifications of ecosystems based on fossil assemblages of french reference sites.
Topics of study
I will carry out an anatomical study aiming to identify the different fossil taxa of amphibians and squamates found on different french reference sites. The ecology of these taxa will then be evaluated based on the interpretation of their morphology (functional anatomy, possibly completed by geochemistry and/or dental wear marks). This work will enable the reconstruction of the fossiliferous communities and ecosystems of each site to better understand the modifications of continental wetlands in Western Europe between the end of the Cretaceous and the beginning of the Cenozoic.
