Morphology and dental microwear analysis of Entelodon
During my stay at the PALEVOPRIM lab, I focused most of my research on the morphology of the species of Entelodon. The PALEVOPRIM lab, as well as other natural history museums, provides me abundant fossil material and facilitate the comparisons between the Asian species and the European ones; the formers composing the main source of material of my PhD thesis.
A new Entelodon specimen in China will also be reported with detailed morphological comparisons with the other species. Dental microwear texture was also conducted on 39 molars belonging to 4 entelodont species in order to infer their dietary preferences and niche differences.
Yang Yu is a 3rd year PhD Student the Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology (IVPP) in Beijing.
