Charlotte THEYE
Postdoctoral researcher
Main research question
Charlotte’s postdoctoral project, funded by the Fyssen Foundation, is entitled: “Walking with our ancestors: how did locomotor behaviour influenced the brain of fossil hominins?”. The project focuses on the vertebral column, and more specifically on the vertebral trabecular bone structure, of extant and fossil primates.
Topics of study
The research aims to identify skeletal locomotor-related signals within the vertebral column that will help in refining the locomotor repertoire of fossil hominins. By integrating these findings into the chronology of early hominin brain changes, we will explore the potential correlation between locomotor behaviours and brain changes in early hominins.
