Preparation and molding laboratory
Description
The preparation and molding laboratory is a room of 57 m2 containing a modern and diverse equipment: autoclave, micro-blaster, precise saw, pneumatic tools for removing matrix, dust extraction hood, chemical storage, general tools.
Use
This service carries out the preparation and revealing/extraction of fossil material. Other important activities include the making of silicone rubber molds and complex molds for all types of objects (in particular fossil vertebrates), sediment sieving and sorting using a binocular magnifier, preparation of histologic slices and inclusions, restoration of collection specimens, skeleton preparation and mounting.
Funding
This lab exists since the creation of our institute and is funded by numerous investments from our institute and from the different projects involving such activities.
