Description

The imaging platform of PALEVOPRIM is composed of three graphic stations allowing for all types of 3D data processing (volume and surface manipulation and associated analyses). The processing of different image file formats can be done by using software such as Avizo and Geomagic, but our imaging platform also includes numerous open source programs such as ImageJ/Fiji, R, Blender, Cloud Compare for which we offer our expertise.

Use

The processing of 3D images is nowadays at the heart of our field as it allows collecting raw data (anatomical features of fossil and extant osteological material, osteological models for comparative analyses) as well as performing shape analyses (geometric morphometrics, analysis of internal structures, fossil reconstitution and retrodeformation…).

Funding

The available material has been acquired by co-fundings from the CNRS, the University of Poitiers and the Poitou-Charentes ex-region (New Aquitaine region).
