Spatial data analyzes
Main mission
Collection, management, processing and analysis of large fossil and current datasets and metadata at various scales (centimetric to global); Hardware, software and analytical advice and assistance to users.
Activities
- Collect and adapt data to the needs of the chosen spatial analysis methods: surface and topographic analysis, geographic information system.
- Propose protocols for acquiring spatialized and/or georeferenced data: total station, GNSS.
- Carry out the processing and analysis of data and metadata, test and develop new methodologies as part of research projects.
Contribution to research
Participation in the analysis of the distribution of remains in localities in order to help researchers better understand the taphonomy and biostratinomy specific to each site.
On a larger scale, demonstration of spatial and temporal correlations between paleobiodiversity data and environmental signals and interpretation of these correlations in terms of biotic interactions, biotic/abiotic interrelations, habitat preferences, evolution landscapes.
