Postdoctoral researcher
Main research question
Julia joined PALEVOPRIM in 2026 as a postdoctoral researcher.
Topics of study
After obtaining a PhD from the Complutense University of Madrid (Spain), she worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Universities of Salamanca and of the Basque Country (Spain) and then at the McDonald Institute for Archaeological Research (UK) as a Newton International Fellow.
Her work focuses on two parallel but interconnected research lines that rely on the use of state-of-the-art methods such as 3D geometric morphometrics, artificial intelligence and virtual labs to study the archaeological and paleontological fossil record. As part of LHOSA, her project focuses on the reconstruction and analysis of hominin postcranial elements from the site of Sterkfontein.
